Karla M. Pérez Torres is an associate attorney at Weinstein-Bacal, Miller & Vega, P.S.C. She brings to her legal practice a strong academic background and a deep commitment to public health and social justice.
Ms. Pérez Torres earned her Juris Doctor Magna Cum Laude from the University of Puerto Rico School of Law. During her time in law school, she served on the Editorial Board of the Revista Jurídica (2021–2022) and was a member and spokesperson for the Pro Bono Program in Health Justice (2022–2024), advocating for access to health services in underserved communities.
Her academic journey began with undergraduate studies in Human Biology at the University of Puerto Rico at Bayamón. She then completed a Master's in Health Sciences and Nutrition from the University of Puerto Rico Medical Sciences Campus, where she graduated with honors.
After completing her graduate degree, she worked in public health research, focusing on issues such as healthcare access, food security, and the impact of hurricanes and the COVID-19 pandemic on vulnerable populations in Puerto Rico.
Her growing interest in public policy and regulatory frameworks led her to pursue a career in law. In April 2022, she joined Weinstein-Bacal, Miller & Vega, P.S.C. as a law clerk, supporting attorneys in a wide range of legal matters, including employment and commercial litigation. After passing the Puerto Rico Bar Examination in 2024, she was admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Puerto Rico in January 2025. She began practicing as an associate with the firm.
Ms. Pérez Torres is licensed to practice law in the courts and quasi-judicial forums of Puerto Rico, as well as before the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.
